(Audio/Modem Riser) - a new kind of internal card slot. AMR slots are connected to special audio circuitry on the motherboard. With just a little bit of interface hardware on an AMR card, it is possible to implement a "soft" modem using the motherboard circuitry and software. Intel is promoting AMR as a new standard as part of its AC'97 program. Some AMR cards have a jumper that will allow primary or secondary ID selection.
